General description
The Allegro™ ACS71240 current sensor IC is an economicaland precise solution for AC or DC current sensing in industrial,automotive, commercial, and communications applications.The device consists of a precise, low-offset linear Hall sensorcircuit with a copper conduction path located near the surfaceof the die. Applied current flowing through this copper pathgenerates a magnetic field which is sensed by the integrated HallIC and converted into a proportional voltage. The resistance ofthe integrated conductor is far less than typical sense resistors,which reduces power loss and improves efficiency.Rejection of external common-mode magnetic fields isachieved through differential sensing, enabling high accuracyin magnetically noisy environments. A precise voltageproportional to the measured current is generated by the lowoffset, chopper-stabilized Hall front end.Zero ampere output voltage and device sensitivity areprogrammed at the Allegro factory to provide a high accuracysolution across the full automotive temperature range.
