Board-to-Board Connectors
Board-to-board connectors are used to connect PCBs without a cable. The board-to-board connectors can save space on cables, making them suitable for systems with limited space. The PCBs can be connected using connectors in parallel or perpendicular configuration.
Wire/Cable-to-Wire/Cable Connectors
Wire-to-wire connectors connect two wires, as the name suggests. One end of the connector is permanently connected to the wire. The other end of the connector forms a separable interface. The permanent connection can be made using either crimping or insulation displacement contact (IDC). In the IDC method, connection is made by inserting the insulated wire into a slot of a sharpened metal beam.
Wire/Cable-to-Board Connectors
A wire-to-board connector, as the name suggests, connects a wire/cable to a PCB. The wire connections are similar to the one used for wire-to-wire connection, and the board connections are, for the most part, press-in or soldered two-piece connectors, although some card edge versions remain in use. The mating interface for the separable connection may be identical to that of a wire-to-wire connector from the same product family.
Material of Connectors
PBT plastic material
PBT plastic materials are often used in the production of 2.54 spacing 180 degrees /90 degrees on the plate connector products, plastic terminal shell welding temperature is only about 200 degrees, due to the cost of relatively low other materials, high strength, friction resistance and other characteristics, now this material still has a lot of customers to choose.
Nylon-66
A desired resin. White solid. Density 1.14, melting point 253℃C. Insoluble in general solvents, only soluble jade constant steamed fruit, etc. High mechanical strength and hardness, great rigidity. Can be used as engineering plastics.
9T plastic material
Connector products that use this material are mostly 2.54 pitch patch and 1.27 pitch /2.0 pitch series. The welding temperature is about 260 degrees to 300 degrees. Due to the high price of this material, 9T plastic material is generally used to produce connector products with special needs of customers.
Either the male contact or the female contact is flexible. The mutual connection of the contacts can be used to ensure the circuit connection.
The terminal part of the contact has a wiring structure that is easy to implement wires or printed wiring boards. It is for the implementation of welding, encapsulation, holding, through-hole welding, and other structures.
The insulator is used to maintain the voltage insulation resistance between the contacts, and the contact is secured at the correct position of the insulator.
It has a coupling structure, which is convenient for the insertion or removal of the contact, and it does not change its position even after vibration or impact.

Contact: It is composed of a male contact and a female contact. The electrical connection is completed by the insertion of the male and female contacts. The contact is the core part of the connector, which mainly plays the role of electrical connection.
Insulator: It can arrange the contact pieces according to the required position and spacing, and ensure the insulation performance between the contact pieces and between the shell and the contact pieces. Insulators are also called pedestals and mounting plates, and insulating materials are required to have good insulation resistance, withstand voltage performance, and ease of processing.
Shell: As the outer cover of the connector, it mainly provides mechanical protection for the built-in insulating mounting board and pins.
Accessories: There are two kinds of structural accessories and installation accessories. Structural accessories-clamp rings, connecting rings, cable clamps, positioning pins, guide pins, sealing rings, gaskets, etc.; installation accessories-screws, nuts, screws, spring rings, etc.
