The ADuM1200/ADuM12011 are dual-channel digital isolatorsbased on the Analog Devices, Inc., iCoupler® technology.Combining high speed CMOS and monolithic transformertechnologies, these isolation components provide outstandingperformance characteristics superior to alternatives, such asoptocouplers.By avoiding the use of LEDs and photodiodes, iCoupler devicesremove the design difficulties commonly associated with optocouplers.The typical optocoupler concerns regarding uncertain currenttransfer ratios, nonlinear transfer functions, and temperature andlifetime effects are eliminated with the simple iCoupler digitalinterfaces and stable performance characteristics. The need forexternal drivers and other discrete components is eliminatedwith these iCoupler products. Furthermore, iCoupler devicesconsume one-tenth to one-sixth the power of optocouplers atcomparable signal data rates.The ADuM1200/ADuM1201 isolators provide two independentisolation channels in a variety of channel configurations anddata rates (see the Ordering Guide). Both devices operate withthe supply voltage on either side ranging from 2.7 V to 5.5 V,providing compatibility with lower voltage systems as well asenabling a voltage translation functionality across the isolationbarrier. In addition, the ADuM1200/ADuM1201 provide lowpulse width distortion (<3 ns for CR grade) and tight channelto-channel matching (<3 ns for CR grade). Unlike otheroptocoupler alternatives, the ADuM1200/ADuM1201 isolatorshave a patented refresh feature that ensures dc correctness inthe absence of input logic transitions and during powerup/power-down conditions.The ADuM1200W and ADuM1201W are automotive gradeversions qualified for 125°C operation.
